Does anyone know of a source for the little L-shaped hooks that secure the dark slides in film holders. (I'm sure there must be some technical name for these, but I do not know it.) Hardware store where I have checked have L-screws that are the right shape, but about twice a big as the ones in the holders and they aren't threaded far enough down the shaft. Thanks for any help,
Bill
Have you looked for them at McMaster (http://www.mcmaster.com) ?
They seem to have some but I think they may be still too big, I don't have any
film holders handy to measure.

rubber bands length-wise work tremendously well for this exact purpose, and don't get snagged up when inserting/removing from your holder case/bag

You can always modify one that's too large, provided the diameter is about right.
Cut off the end with the leg, then bend a new leg at the desired point.
I would suggest grinding the cut end flat so you don't cut your finger.
