I broke the nipple off the PC port on my Compur #1 shutter. If I try to put it back in, it doesn't stay put but will fall easily. Flash is also quirky since I need to hold it in a certain position for the flash to trigger. I'd rather not superglue it in.

Any tips?

Not sure on the Compurs, but I thought you can remove the whole PC-Sync port and replace it. Last time I opened a Copal it looked like a "simple" job by opening the shutter and removing the unit.

Sorry, it's actually Copal #1 shutter. Ash, thanks for the link, eBay has the same for Copal shutters which I could use.

Now I have to figure out how to get the shutter/lens assembly off the lens board. The whole assembly screws loose, but doesn't come off the lens board - it keeps on turning forever but doesn't unscrew fully. Is there a secret handshake?

Remove the rear element and hold the retaining ring while you turn the shutter and fornt element.

Looking at pictures of an opened Copal shutter it looks like it'll get a bit too involved to fix it myself. I'll take it to my local dealer and see if they can fix it.

You NEVER twist on the shutter. Use a Copal retaining ring removal tool. They are on Ebay. If you grab the shutter you can bend the pivots that:Cock the shutter, open the blades, trip the shutter. NEVER do that.
Now how did you strip the threads that hold the PC outlet?

I looked around on ebay but couldn't find such a tool - any idea where I could find one?

Wash my mouth out with soap, I just hold the shutter and use gentle force with the end of a screwdriver on the retaining ring.

Now how did you strip the threads that hold the PC outlet?

It was loose when I got it, and it just pulled off when I detached a PC cord a while back.

Dropped it off at my local camera store for repairs.
