Just bought epson 7600 - need help!

Hi, I recently purchased an epson pro 7600 second hand. I have three cartridges: photographic black, light black, cyan.

Is this enough to run in b&w? The problem is I can't even get the printer to install these cartridges. I have followed the manual and nothing happens.

No, all slots must be filled with cartridges having more than minimal ink in each of them. 3 down, 4 to go. Unless your using a RIP it will use mixes of color inks to make the Greys.

The exception is to fill all slots with different shapes of grey, I.e. Jon Cones ink set.

I'll second what Bob had to say and add that you don't want bubbles in the ink lines. You end up doing successive cleanings to get them out, or taking things apart and getting in there with syringes, etc. An "initial fill" can cost you a lot of money in ink. Best to decide what inkset to use, get it in there and then do all the cleanings to clear the lines.
