View Full Version : A Schedule of Explosive Implosions used for Building Demolition

Like any other red-blooded male photographer, I'd like to shoot some dust and destruction.

Is there any sort of schedule for upcoming demolitions? Want to share any info for local ones you know about? I'd consider traveling for the best ones....

Also suggestions for getting access to photograph the demolitions from as closely as reasonably/safely possible? The ones I've been to have had areas accommodating to photographers but I would hate to travel and then not be able to use a good vantage point.

Thanks!

Frank,

You might start here. This is company that's been featured all over TV for years.

Frank,
Not sure what they are going to do with the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. It is closed now. This might be an opportunity if the owners decide to move forward with a new building. Someone working in the business section at the Las Vegas Review Journal may know.

That is something I've been thinking of doing for a while. I've seen some amazing shots on Flickr. Not much going on in this part of town though.

Well I guess shooting skinny naked girls in motel rooms can get a little boring after a while, and I guess the only thing that might perk up a photographer bored with smooth young flesh is seeing a ton of explosives turn a building into a beach. Don't forget your ear plugs......

Haha well I've already shot a few demolitions in years past but I have a fresh idea on how to approach them... I would just like to know if there are going to be any closer to me, between Cleveland to Pittsburgh to New Jersey to Ottawa basically (all a reasonable drive from Rochester).

I've been hotel room free for almost two years now but wouldn't you know it, I went to pick up a traveling model from her room and ended up doing a few shot that broke my vows.... racy as always.

Too bad the demolition of Midtown Plaza, right in downtown Rochester, is happening in (very) slow motion.

Asbestos Mark, a boon to the contractors who make several times more $$$$$$$$.

Well there is always hope Kodak will blow up a few more buildings.

If I could nominate a city for a bombing run, they could fly down Main Street Rochester at Mt. Read and not stop dropping until Winton Road. Then bring those mobs in from the UK since our porch monk... disenfranchised masses... are too damn lazy to loot anything. That would create jobs and shovel-ready development.
