found this today on the bay, http://cgi.ebay.com/Burke-and-James-8x10-Large-Format-Camera-/260833913090?pt=Film_Cameras&hash=item3cbae9a902, if you had this lens you could take a self portrait standing behind the camera. : )

I guess you could probably use it for macro shots.

The Dumont lens was made for use on an oscilloscope. It will only cover 8x10 when the image size is greater than 1:1.

<smart a** mode> Actually, this is not a wide angle lens, it is just a short focal lenth. </smart a** mode>

I have a 3" (75mm)1.9 Wollensak Oscillo-Raptar and a 3.5" (88mm) 1.4 Wollensak Oscillo-Raptar - both barely cover 6x6cm at infinity.

So this camera as it's set up would produce an image the size of a baseball in the middle of an 8X10 sheet of film?

At infinity? Yes.

So, it could turn a baseball into a tennis ball?

The B&J 8x10 rembrandt is an uncommon camera for B&J. It differs from their other field cameras in that the front standard is fixed for strength. The reason to choose this one is to have big heavy lenses like you'd have on a classic century studio style camera. You still have the rear movements which keeps it practical. It also has the 9ish inch lensboard like the century studio cameras so you can have a big packard behind the big lens.

I wouldn't pay that much for the camera though.

So, it could turn a baseball into a tennis ball? Not exactly. Amend that to read "fuzzy image of a baseball."
