We went to Yos. yesterday, 8-10-11- There is a fire west of Glacier Point, Half Dome wasn't visible from the valley. Smoke was patchy most of the way over Tioga Pass to Mono Lake.

Thanks -- I am heading that way tomorrow -- will be a week in Wawona, and up on Half Dome on Tuesday. Last time I was on Half Dome (2004) there was a fire one valley over from Little Yosemite Valley -- lots of smoke and they kicked everyone off the Dome and out of Little Yosemite that afternoon. The smoke got pretty heavy in Yosemite Valley, but the mornings were clear as the up-canyon winds cleared the Valley. The heavy afternoon smoke drove out a lot of campers -- a little nicer for those of us who stayed!

Also the smoke has no effect on the hungry mosquitos.

FYI – This (http://www.yosemiteconservancy.org/webcams) is a pretty good tool to nowcast Valley weather conditions, or this (http://sierrafire.cr.usgs.gov/swfrs/pages/WebCam.htm) for the Southern Sierra (not Sierras :p ), at least during daylight hours.
