View Full Version : Chinook Pass
Does anyone know if Chinook Pass in Washington state is snow free? I know the road is open, but how about the lakes and ponds and surrounding area?
Thanks

It's open with snow in the area above the pass, 5-6,000 feet. The snow varies considerably around Mt. Rainier but consistently still some to significant amounts above 5,000 feet in most areas and all areas above 6,000 feet. The NRCS SNOTEL Website reports near zero snow at Cayuse Pass site due east of Paradise and south of Chinook Pass, but still about 3 feet at Paradise site (actually southeast of the visitors center) at about the same elevation.
Thanks much for the update. Saved me a major drive.
