View Full Version : Schneider Super-Angulon XL 72mm 5.6 Copal 0.0?
I have just received a second hand 72mm xl and I have noticed it is in a copal shutter clearly marked 0.0. The shutter appears smaller than copal 0 but when I compared the board hole it was mounted in it was the same size as copal 0? So appears to be copal 0.0 that mounts into copal 0? Is this normal? (I have no experiences with copal 0.0)
Does the 72mm come mounted in copal 0.0? I seem to find more references that it's mounted in copal 0....
On closer look, this appears to be a copal 0 after all. It is labeled "COPAL-N0.0". The T and the B shutter speeds are in green and red color, respectively. So I guess the label means Copal N0(number). 0(Zero). Is this a newer Copal shutter? The lens sn = 14709xxx, suggesting a 1998/99 manufacture?

All of my Copal 0 shutters are marked that way. It confused me at first too, which is why I still have a Copal 00 lens board sitting around doing nothing...
Was the marking introduced at some point in time? All my other copal shutters have a simple "COPAL 0".

What you saw was Copal NO. 0
That translates to Copal number 0.

I realise this now. Thanks Bob. Do you know if there is any distinction in manufacturing dates or processes for the differently labeled copal shutters?

Nope, never looked.
