HI guys,
I've bought a Polaroid 405 back (early type with metal clamp) for my Sinar Handy camera.
I've found that it is not possible to slide the back completely in as the right side of the back is touching the Sinar back, if I push the back totally in the back itself is not alligned on the film plane and is raised up on the right side.
Also, if I remove the film holder I can't slide the two tabs of the sinar back to block it.
I'm missing something?
I'm thinking that this Pola back will not work correctly with the Sinar Handy back (Part N. 461.46 & 461.56). I have also the old 500, the 550. the 545 Pro and they fit perfectly.
Any help?
Thanks.
Giorgio

I think you can fit it horizontally but not vertically, the Sinar backs are slightly different between the eras but I remember having this problem too. It is widely discussed if you search Google for "Sinar back, Polaroid 405".

I remember using it by sliding it in from the "wrong" way but it's been a while since I did.

HI Frank, thanks as always for your help.
So, problems solved this night....
The Graflok way to mount on is now working perfectly and I've just unscrewed two little screw to remove the alloy trim on the right side of the Sinar Back, now the pola fit perfectly as it is no more touching.
Only, if I look at the lens side, I can see that the Pola is not centered with the GG, I will wait to shoot some pics to see how it works.
Thanks
Giorgio

You can't center the lens on it without making the camera move, impossible unless you have the shifting lensboard for the Handy. As it is, the 405 is a compromise.
