In the 3d edition of The Darkroom Cookbook, Kodak TC-1 is recommended for removing stains caused by "oxidation products from developers as well as some silver and dye stains." TC-3 removes "stains in trays from silver, silver oxide, and many dyes."

My question: Will TC-3 also remove developer stains?

Thanks,

Thomas

What about just getting a new tray if the stains bother you so much? Just askin...

this guy did a series of famous photographers developer trays:

Because cleaning the trays, Jobo bottle, and storage tank for the Dektol is far cheaper than replacing them and we have enough plastic in our dumps without unjustifiably adding to it.

I have the formulas. My question is: Will TC-3 also remove developer stains? TC-1 will but will TC-3?

I use TC3 and yes, it does remove developer stains.

That's good to know! Thanks Scotty. TC-3 requires just 4mL of sulfuric acid/L as opposed to 96mL/L for TC-1.
