Server Outage Recovered--Minor Data Loss [Archive]

As you likely noticed we had a server outage that lasted a few days due to a data center accident. The LF Home Page site and the LF Forum have been recovered up to 3:00am Wednesday, July 6th--the time of our last backup.

Your action may be needed: Any forum change you made--for example posts, PMs, new registrations, user option changes, marked-as-read posts, etc.--between 3am and about 3PM July 6 was lost and cannot be recovered. You will need to manually redo any forum actions you took during that time period.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks, but our server & network bandwidth benefactor, Brian Reid, deserves the lion's share of thanks. He got the new server, built the OS, installed all the needed backend systems in record time. I just restored the Forum DB, which I mostly slept thru ;)

Actually, I think it would be a good idea to take it down on purpose for a few days twice a year to remind us what important is.

The Attach Files option doesnt' seem to be working. Says not a valid jpg file even to files previously accepted.

Now we can imagine the feeling of loss when the library of Alexandria burned in ancient times -- we as a race are lucky to have harnessed such a powerful technology as computers. This site back up and running in such a short time period is great -- knowledge and resources saved for future use. Good work to the computer gurus.

Dto all of the above. Been homebound babysitting a sick little 12yr-old poodle, nearly deaf, who developed diabetes and is blinded with cataracts as a result. I really missed this site and looked for "good news?" in the newspaper instead (not successful). Happy days are back again. Thanks guys.

I'm so glad the site's back online, way to go on recovering things guys :)

I had a bunch of bookmarks on certain posts that I had to do without when printing in the darkroom this weekend. I'm going through all the bookmarks and copying the info to my notebook so I have a hard copy just in case...

Every time I see the first two words of this on the Forum Page my first impression is that it says "Server Outrage", not "Server Outage". Has anyone else had this experience?
