Im looking for the flange distance on the older (352mm IC) fujinon W 210mm lens.
Does anyone have a source or know what this distance is?

Thanks in advace,

I may be mistaken, but I think flange distance may not always the same as focal length, even with "prime" lenses. The difference can be considerable in some cases.

The table on the Ebony web site actually lists both. It's the only place I could find those numbers.

Flange focal length (FFL) is definitely not the same as the optical focal length. If they're equal it's only by coincidence.

Both optical focal length and FFL are listed on all modern datasheets. It may be more difficult to locate for vintage lenses.

That table does not show FFL, only optical focal length, and that value is nominal not necessarily actual.

Thanks for the links Gentlemen; I have those in my bookmarks. the Ebony list is indeed very helpful but does not list the FFL for the older lens I have.

FL and FFL are indeed much different and vary with lens design and such. My Grandagon 115mm for example has an FFL of 121mm which is significant when constructing fixed focus or helical focus LF cameras.

I'll just have to construct a test bench and measure it emperically I suppose.

Cheers,
Leon

I have an old Fujinon catalog that lists this. I'll check it tonight after work.

That is a question that is difficult to answer. The only on-line 'printed' info on that lens is the D.O. Price List on Kerry's site. It does not list the FFL. Focusing a 210 with a helicoid? Seems like you'd need a pretty long telescoping helicoid if you want to focus on anything close.

My 1977 "Fujinon Professional Lenses" brochure gives the flange focal length of the 210 Fujinon-W as 209.6mm. And the image circle is indeed given as 352mm at f/22.

Do you have that in PDF?? :)

Nope, real paper, including a 1979 price list. I should probably scan it, but can't until late next week as I'm packing for vacation...
