Hi, all.
Since scanner industry seems to be a dying business, I'm searching for alternatives and camera backs or those specialized cameras (www.kaiser-fototechnik.de/en/produkte/2_1_produktanzeige.asp?nr=5124) may turn to be the most practical solution on near future.
So have anyone tried one of these Kaiser cameras? Or maybe a Betterlight or MF digital back would be a better alternative?
Thanks,
Cesar B.

I have worked with the Kaiser camera that accepts Nikon lenses over the years. Although I have not worked with the latest versions. Only the earlier versions.

Thank you, Bob.
But could you say something about them?
I haven't found comments around and I have no idea about the quality one should expect from these cameras.

Wht do you want me to say? They work, exactly as advertised. They are SLR cameras. Depending on version they accept either Nikon or M39 lenses. They must be tethered as they are scanning cameras. They are very high resolution. They have reasonable scan times, depending on the resolution selected. They work with Mac or PC.
The Kiaser web sight gives all of the specs.

Thanks, Bob.
As you know, most of the claims made by scanner industry comes to be highly exagerated, so I just wanted to hear from actual users if those specs are supposed to be true.
Greetings,
Cesar B.

You should find that the claims published in Germany are actual performance claims. If the product doesn't perform as specified they don't make the claim.

I don't have any experience with this Kaiser camera, but have had lots and lots of time with earlier models of scanning cameras from Leaf and Agfa. The files from scanning cameras can be absolutely beautiful. The Kaiser looks like its plenty big file wise to make some great reproductions.
I'd ask for some full size sample files to look at.

Hi, Henry.
Asking for a sample is a good idea, but I wrote to them with a couple of questions and had no answers so far. Actually, Novoflex also didn't answer to me, so I think german people doesn't care a bit about south-american eventual clients.
Anyway, I will wait a little and try again latter and ask for samples.
Thanks,
Cesar B.

Why not ask me your Novoflex questions? Those are all small companies and when there are shows (like now with NAB just having ended, the Moscow and Beijing shosw starting soon) they don't have anyone left to answer questions. That is why they have distributors, like us, who are closer to your market.
