I bought a lens board on ebay only to find out it's much to big for my Calumet 4x5. The seller specified that the board is made for a Calumet 4x5, it says "Calumet" across the top, but the lens board covers the entire front of the camera, much more than the lens board opening.

What specifications do I need to look for in buying the correct lens board? What are the measurements? Did I buy a lens board for an 8x10?

Calumet lens boards for 4x5 are usually 4"x4".

Calumet/Cambo lens boards are camera specific.

Gotcha. Okay, starting to make sense. My lens is a copal no. 1; does this translate to a 33, 34, 39, 41, or 54 hole?

Cambo/Calumet boards came in two (2) or three (3) sizes, depending on the camera not the film format. Many 4x5 Cambo/Calumet cameras used the 6x6 board.

You need the 41mm hole.

KEH uses "ball park measurements" for their lens board openings.

An opening for a Copal 1 shutter might be be listed as 41mm or 42mm on their website.

Either size will fit. The retaining ring that is used to mount the lens allows for a small amount of play.

First of all you need to know which model of Calumet 4x5 you have. Is it one of the early CC-400 models or a later Calumet rebranded Cambo camera? The CC-400 models take a 4x4" flat lensboard ( CC-420 ). Howard Tanger

Actually, the old-style Calumets (CC-400,-401,-402) take a 4" square board.
The newer Cambo/Calumets (NX, Cadet, etc.) take a larger board that they share with Cambos.
The Calumet C-1 8x10 takes yet a different, large, square board.
Simple, it ain't.

The SK Grimes lensboard database should be consulted to ascertain the four different Cambo-Calumet lens boards.

The Calumet C-1 takes 6x6 inch boards with rounded corners, same as the Deardorff board. Square-corner boards will not fit.

Paul,

The OP is asking about lens boards for his 4x5 camera.

The Calumet C-1 is an 8x10 camera.
