Where Can We Get 8x10 Acros, um, at a reasonable price (say the cost of FP4+ at B&H plus 50% or less)? :)

FWIW, in Japan a box of 20 8x10 is Y11,300, which as of today is about US$133.

Wow...any idea of shipping cost Oren? Is this at Megapearls (?)? or at a place like Yodobashi? Anywhere in the USA?

That's from a quick check of Bic and Yodobashi. Unfortunately, you can't order from them from outside of Japan. But I see that Japan Exposures is also showing it for essentially the same price. Shipping quote for a single box ranges from Y770 for slow boat to Y1860 for EMS to North America. Note that Dirk is on break until sometime the middle of this month.

I don't know of any supplier in North America.

At Japan Exposures it is ¥13,260 which I quackulate to be around $156 US or, adding 25%, $195 US for 25 sheets + shipping. This is 2.6 TIMES what B&H charge for Ilford FP4+ or Delta!!! WTH!?!?

I guess there's not enough demand for import here?

Oops. That second digit is "3", not "1". :o

Yeah, it's expensive...

Richard, I don't think that there is enough demand world-wide for it.

Consider this: what was the final price of Kodak TMY 8x10? $69 for 10 sheets? That's a special order item now, but for 8x10 Acros you can just go buy a box, no problem, $6.24 per sheet, $7.80 per sheet including shipping. I think that the price is comparable to TMY.

If you want the product, smile and fork out the money.

For that kind of money I can coat glass plates and save a lot.

Price is comparable to TMY and is in stock. I figured about $175 (EMS shipped from .jp to TN) per box of 20 sheets if I ordered 8 of them. I have a few friends interested, so we may do a group order to get it here, then ship from here to AL and FL. I like the idea of being able to reduce reciprocity in 5x7 (with a bit of cutting, of course).

They just discontinued the half plate Acros which I was using in my 5x7 camera. No other real use for half plate filmholders now...

Dirk is there to run a business and he does so by including a premium on the products he can get locally and ship internationally.

Nothing against his business, but I would find someone in Japan that could perhaps look around for a cheap price at one of the hundreds of film dealers and perhaps find you a score.

I WOULD help you, but at the moment I an unemployed here in Japan. I should be working on a U.S. bases here shortly. With this job, I would be able to order from Yodabashi and ship to the US via USPS Priority. But you'll have to wait until I get a job. So please keep your fingers crossed for me :)

Richard,

Macodirect in Germany has 20 sheet boxes listed:

http://www.macodirect.de/planfilme-254cm-8x10-c-1_386_389.html?language=en&sort=2a

http://www.macodirect.de/fuji-acros-planfilmbr203-254cm-8x1020-blatt-p-1933.html?osCsid=1e16233f899ad1ef5f1244436520128

The 19% VAT is only for EU, so you pay 141,3 € .
They ship to Canada with DHL (2KG Package ~ 21,50 € shipping cost).

A bit more expensive than the 25 sheets from Japan,
maybe the actual shipping costs from Japan makes a difference?

I am crossing my fingers for you and will also try posting to see if anyone would be willing to do this locally for me. Thank you.

Not saying there is no half plate film, but it is all available in 5x7 too. Acros was never made in 5x7, only half plate... will order some half plate fp4 in the ULF order...
