What is the reason the Deardorff V8 has 2 different attachment methods for the lensboard, ie. sliding bar or 2 rotating tabs.

Age of camera, or ???

Is one prefered over the other?

I think it is better to say had 2 different attachment methods.............
The two finger tab method on cameras went away around 1952. Look at the sliding lock. Which do you think is better? Especially the lock with the flat spring. Now to defend the tabs. As a field camera I shoot with V8 Deardorff #8 from 1923.
I have a Packard shutter adapter and a Goerz 12 in. Satz Lens on a 4.5x4.5 board. All with tabs holding things together. Adjusted properly the tabs hold fine. The friction is at the screw and Front surface of the board. They should not spin freely. Preference?
The sliding lock. I sell new ones if you want one.
