Hello all,

Does anyone know the production date for 8x10 Deardorff Serial# 4085?

Even a rough estimate would be great.

Many thanks!

Thanks Louis,

The site is great, but does not have actual dates by serial number ...

Thanks Louis,

The site is great, but does not have actual dates by serial number ...

If you email the site owner, he'll send you the manufacture date of your camera.

Darin: Since when do wives come before cameras? Shame on you.

Keith: Have done already .. just thought someone out there might have published a list online by now. Surely everyone with a Dorff wants to know :)

Ken's great. I e-mailed him recently with the same question and he was able to tell me not only the year but the exact day that my camera was made (3-29-79). Hey, I should have thrown it a birthday party!

It was made 10-24-66

So could 4328 also be a child of the swinging sixties

I have a V8 4140. A younger sibling to 4085. I emailed Ken and look forward to his reply.

There should be a Deardorff registry.

There should be a Deardorff registry.

Theres a page on my site for Deardorff owners. I have not made it public or visable.
Do you want everyone to know what you have?. I thought it was a great idea but have thought more and I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. You ask, I'll tell you here.
Or from an e mail. Give me some thoughts.....I've posted the history on my site, Hints on care and most models. Perhaps here is the place for our stories on using them?
What do you think?

So could you let me know when mine was made, the number is 4382, it has front swing and is a thing of joy, particularly after taking your advice about maintenance

Thanks

Ken, thank you. In January '67, I had just arrived in Chicago after the huge snow storm hit the city. So I was in the city when it was "born."

I'm surprised how young mine is. Ken tells me that #5766 left the factory on 3/3/83, and that he may have assembled part of it at that time.

4382 was built 1969. Now is the point where I'd say lube it. But I see you have. It's neat how that turns a cranky camera into a happy one.

Thanks Ken

The advice was perfect, the camera is working like new, unlike my knees which are only slightly older .

I'm curious to find out who is older... me or my Deardorff? The serial number is 1283. Can you date this for me Ken?
It's a V8.
Thanks,
Bill
