Hello there. I am very very new to the board and am busily reading as much as I can get my hands on about LF Photography. I am newer then newbie when it comes to LF and only slightly more versed in shooting film. Does anyone know of any workshops or classes here in NYC. I have not been able to find any mention through all the regular schools and institutes. I know that the Center for Alternative Photography has some large format but its usually focused on Wet Plate and different forms of printing.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Alicia

Camera Club of NY might have some classes. The School of Visual Arts as continuing education classes where you can make use of their large format equipment.

Welcome Alicia,
I've been on the same hunt since last year. ICP has courses but they consume an entire semester, I think. The folks at CAP told me they'd be running an intro to LF class in the spring but it has not materialized.
I've come to the conclusion that I have three options:
1) Richard and Bruce's course up in Vt.
2) Richard at Peters Valley (sounds like the same program but closer to NYC than Vt)
3) Tillman Crane's workshop in Maine.
All of these workshops offer multi day opportunities to get familiar with the gear and techniques of LF.
I'm leaning toward Peters Valley because it's closer to NY. Bruce and Richard's students tend to give good reviews to their workshops.
It's worth picking up Bruce's book on LF which has been very helpful to me:

Good luck

Quite an interesting alternative, if you have seen much already and tried practically everything.
Sorry for ressurecting the topic (couldn't create a new thread because of ads pop ups).
