I'm looking for a double-weight or heavier fiber silver-gelatin paper with a surface/tooth like Ektalure G, not glossy, and with a white or warm-white base, but not cream-colored base. Preferably MG/VC. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I think Kentmere Kentona might be a candidate, but it's not VC.

I read that there are problems with that paper:

What about Fotokemika Varycon or Fomabrom Variant or Fortezo (which is not VC, but graded)? Any thoughts on those papers? Thanks.

Wow! I guess I'm very lucky to have had no problems with Kentona. I haven't used those other papers.

How about emaks? it is a graded paper, but is neutrally-toned with a slightly warm base and very nice, rich tonality. And its relatively cheap.

The production batches discussed in those threads certainly in one case and almost certainly in the other predate the acquisition of Kentmere by Harman and the transfer of production to the Harman factory in Mobberley. If you think you might be interested in Kentona you should post a fresh query about its current status. You might try over at APUG.

Forte is now long out of business, and Fortezo is long out of production.

Check the Foma line...go through the Freestyle catalog and order a few to try.

NER,

Where are you located? Eastern Mongolia? North Korea? It is hard to give advise when, one does not know where you are located.

Freestyle is a great place to obtain many different types and manufactures of B&W photo papers. However, if you live too far away from Los Angeles, it may be too expensive to ship the paper to your locaction or you may have different options.

PS. Great work on your website :)

Joselsgil,

I live in Bellingham, WA. We have Glazer's in Seattle - http://www.glazerscamera.com/. Their prices on some items are actually better than Freestyle and shipping is certainly cheaper for me from Seattle when I mail order, but I do order from Freestyle as well and often did when I lived in California.

ps. Thanks for your humor and your nice compliment.

I have about 90 sheets of 8x10 Ektalure left that I'd sell if you wanted it. I did some great prints for a real estate person of an old house with it, and, frankly, forgot it was here...

I have tried Foma warm tone paper and it has a gritty surface, almost like fine grain sandpaper. I can't remember the specific model number of the paper though.
