I was wondering if anyone knew of a 4x5 reducing back that would fit onto my Tachihara? I shoot mainly 8x10 (now) but I would still like to shoot some 4x5. My girlfriend also prefers to shoot 4x5, and this way we wouldn't need an additional camera!

Thanks a lot!

I have a Tachihara 8x10 and I remember seeing on the official Japanese website a 4x5 reducing back for it. That was a couple of years agao and I don't know if it's still available. Jeff at Badger Graphics may be able to tell you.

Thanks Brian. I'm not sure where Graham lives, but he might want you to make him one. I think you would be quicker than having to wait for Tachihara to make one for him.
BTW have you been down to the Otways yet?

Tachihara Camera Works offer a 8x10/4x5 reducing back for 52 500 Yen. Give them a call. Their Japan telephone number is 03 3911 1794. Maybe fax 03 3914 0911 could be easier.

Their web site is http://www.netlaputa.ne.jp/~tachi-ss/

Thanks for all of your help. If $630 (52 000 Yen) is what I'm looking at, I'd rather just buy a used 4x5, or try to build my own reducing back.

Cheers!

Quick question: If I got myself a Graflok back, could I then build the wooden structure to attach onto the Tachihara, and then attach that Graflok back to the newly made back?

Hi Graham.
Yes you can do that, I have a 4x5 Tachihara, and made a new back so I could use my Horseman GG and roll film backs. If you need any help please pm me,
Cheers Brian :D

I have the Tachihara 4x5 reducing back for my 8x10. Very nicely made.

I recently got a quote from Jim at MPEX for $429 with 4 week delivery, so they're still being made.
