Along with 8x10 LF I'm heavily into street photography - so it was with some delight that I saw this exclusive first time release of a film Meyerowitz made in 1981 - it features his street work and a lot of his large format work - really quite an interesting watch.

A few years ago Joel was a HP sponsored lecturer at Macworld. He talked primarily about his work at the WTC and the post 9/11 clean-up where he documented it with his 8x10. It was a very good lecture and afterward I spoke with him about his street photography and his large format work. He was nothing but encouraging and seemed less interested in his work and celebrity than promoting the process and art of photography.

Thank you for sharing that. It was an interesting insight. I bought my copy of Cape Light in 1982. It has endured as a personal favorite since then.

Hey, Ben, there are currently a handful of Meyrowitz photographs on display in the Format exhibition at Derby Quad (England, UK).
This year's theme is street photography and there is a lot of interesting work displayed across Derby centre locations.
Unfortunately, it finishes on 3rd April 2011. I'm heading back over there on Saturday.

Hi Marizu, yeah I was at Format the day following the opening night, Joel said Hi to me inside Quad, no lie, he seems to be very down to earth.

I wish I'd thought to ask him for his portrait - I had my Sinar in the boot of my car :)

I shoot on 5th. Ave. frequently. I like Meyerowitz. But, love Winogrand. I just took my first test shots with LF tonight. I'm using a Super Speed Graphic with Fuji chrome quickloads.

I hope they're decent.

My most recent shots on 5th....
