twist relief

the contact between my rail clamp and tripod head is not enough to stop the camera from twisting, especially when pointed down. the top of the head is metal, the bottom of the clamp leatherette. even with a quick release i think the top of the head is not grippy enough. any suggestions? i am thinking of a thin rubber gasket of some sort. -adam

Hi Adam, I think I had a similar problem with a cork to steel surface, and a guy told me to wipe a thin film of dish washing soap on the cork and let it dry. This improved the grip for me. Good luck.

A piece of inner tube has worked for me in the past.

I just bought a new quick realease plate for my bogen and they changed the cork and replaced it with rubber.I don`t know if that will solve your problem.-J

If cosmetic appearance isn't too important to you, I suggest cutting a washer out of carborundum or glass-paper, and using double sided tape to stick it over the leatherette, rough side up, of course. This should give you all the grip you need, without the sloppines of a sheet of rubber.
