Does anyone know if this lens covers 8x10? I've searched these forums, and googled my heart out, but haven't turned up anything.

Thanks!

You have to give more info on the lens. Maybe try adding a few photos

Your lens could be a Turner Reich Anastigmat. series II/III. If so, this may be the 11x14 model which is a triple convertible w/ a combined focal length so 15"- 25"/ 36" but should be f7.5 now the 12"(8x10) combined f6.8 w/ 28"/21".Not sure on the split focal lengths on the 8x10 model.

If your lens is a series III, it should be a 14" f6.8 w/ 2x 28" cells The series III is symmetrical so while convertible it has only two focal lengths

Maybe you can go to Seth's site Camera Eccentric Here's a link. check this catalog out & it may answer your question.

Hope this helps

I have a Turner Reich (Gundlach) 12"/21"/28" Triple Convertible that covers 11x14 (yes, even with the 12"). I'm pretty certain that your lens will cover 8x10 with lots of movement.

Caution. If someone who doesn't understand lenses is reading 15" on one of the elements and f6.8 on the front it may NOT cover 8X10. It may actually be a 5X7 lens that happens to have one of the convertible components that states 15" on it, which it is if used alone. More info will really help us help you.

Thanks much for all the replies!

This is not a lens I currently own, but was looking at on a (somewhat) local website that deals in a lot of used equipment. To Jim's point, I believe that the owner knows what he's talking about, but of course I can't be sure.

What I can tell you is that the lens is a Gundlach Turner-Reich, and is mounted in an Alphax self-cocking shutter. I have emailed the business, so I'm just waiting to hear back from that. I will let you all know what I find out.

Thanks again.

Graham, if it's a 15-24-36 in an alphax, it could be worth north of $500. The 15-24-36, aka, the No. 6, was meant for 11x14 and the brochure states it will cover two sizes larger--so 12x15 and 16x20.

But as Louis correctly asserts, if that was what it is, it should be f7.5, not f6.8

Just to update, this is the reply I got from my inquiry:

"I have to admit that I'm not sure of the exact coverage circle of the Gundlach, but my tests with it here in the shop today indicate that it is better suited to 5x7 than it is to 8x10, which it covers only with fairly significant vignetting."

So it looks like Jim was right, at least partially if not wholly. Thanks for all your help, everyone!
