Velcro Patches/ Tape to Add Velcro Inside Camera Bags?

Hi, All,

Does anyone know a good, adhesive hook and loop product..that will attach securely to the fabric inside of camera bags? (Most don't work on fabric.)

It seems that padding in most bags is "suboptimally configured" for the oddball shapes of large format/ panoramic cameras and knick knacks...so I wanna add velcro for pads.

I ordered some "Velcro Brand Fabric Fusion Tape 3/4"X5'-White", but the Velcro website video tell you to hot steam iron the tape for 90 seconds to get it to stick properly, and I can imagine that melting the existing camera fabric. I'll find out.

(...I'm also doing searches).

You'd be better to sew or look for a method to add strong adhesive to whatever brand you buy.

Take a look at the self-adhering Velcro products at your local Wal Mart.

They carry many sizes and shapes. The peal-off adhesive is extremely strong.

Your replies make total sense...

But of the various products made by Velcro, the only one that is described as suitable for fabric is the one I pasted in the question above...which requires strong heat and steam applied. Which will likely melt the synthetic fabric inside a LowePro bag.

Even the reviews on Amazon declare that the other Velcro products do NOT stick to fabric worth a darn! :mad:

There is no pressure sensitive adhesive that will achieve a lasting bond - even under the best conditions. Add heat and changes in humidity, the adhesion will fail.

I investigated this very thoroughly in the early stages of starting Photobackpacker. I even went so far as to talk to the folks at Velcro. If you want a long-term, stable mount, it must be sewn.

You could use a contact cement designed for binding fabric to fabric on the back of the Velcro.

Of course, it would probably be permanent.

I never found a self-adhesive product that worked. I used a fabric glue, and that seems to have held pretty well so far.
