Saw this as part of my West trip and was very impressed. A nice selection of photographs and mostly vintage (typically mid 30s) prints. There is an accompanying book that is very good. I guess Evans impressed me the most but all 3 hit the mark with several of their photographs. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed that Evans had the sharpest lens(es) (not that it matters at all in this context, just an observation) and all 3 had glorious paper to work with. Merg or anyone else, can you hazzard a guess as to what the papers may have been at that time? I am again jealous and disheartened with our current paper situation... :( Anyway, if you are near Chicago, this is a fairly large, thoughtfully put together exhibit comparing 3 icons of documentary photography and well worth a visit!

I'm pretty sure this is the same exhibit that was at the Amon Carter Museum last year. Highly recommended!

Yes, you are right and it's coming to Colby College Museum of Art July 9 according to the information in the accompanying book...

The world-renowned Art Institute of Chicago houses
both a museum and school...

And also has expensive, impressive photography exhibits that are so dimly lit that one needs to wear a miners hat with a light so you can see the images.

My first sarcastic reply notwithstanding, the AIC website makes no mention of the exhibit (at least I can't find it). Are you sure you meant to say the Art Institute of Chicago?

Ah yes, suckered in by that old trick of replying to a 6 month old thread.

Sorry for the confusion.
