I recently made a 16x20 from a digital 35mm photo and I seem to notice the print was slightly out of focus on one side of the print.Has this happen to anyone with a Epson3800 printer? I have made other 16x20's and have had no problems.I'm wondering if I have a problem with the printer or maybe the paper went through the printer slightly off kilter.

I have trouble imagining that the out of focus side would have anything to do with the printer. That would mean that the head rail that carries the ink tanks would be out of parallel with the paper bed. Never heard of that problem. Of course if the printer was shipped by Fedex damage is possible!

I would check the focus in the original image on the computer screen at some quite high magnification. If that is sharp then I guess that your digital data is becoming defocused due to digital gremlins. ;) ;)

My last 2 prints on a 2880, if you print to the edge, are pale and ugly at the end. Havent tried a head align yet though.

Sometimes printing to the far edge of the printers default borders can give you a soft edge. Are you printing on a 17x22 sheet? If so, I would try a smaller print and see if it shows up there. If it doesn't you probably need to adjust borders or make the print slighty smaller, if it still does then there may be a feed or alignment issue with the printer.

In my case, I believe it may be a QTR thing. I did a head align and made a low quality print to the edges with epson driver with no problem, but printing a digital negative with QTR, the printer looses resolution and dmax about an inch from the last edge printed. No problem printing a smaller negative though.
