I'm after any info on this lens.

Serial suggests somewhere around 1987.

All black Copal 3 shutter

Covers 5x7.

I've seen many of the older models; however, this is the only model of this lens that I have seen.

Anyone got information on this?

I thought that you knew to check Schneider's sites before asking about any of their lenses.

Sorry, Dan, anecdotal, rather than technical.

And, yes, I do know how to read them. However, they don't meantion scarcity, subjective performance, desirability, etc.

You must have got one of the last ones, as most (including mine) were in Compound shutters -- sweet when they're working, but who's gonna fix them? (I'm on the waiting list at Flotou's).
It's probably not as good as the 15" tele-Raptar, but has a reasonable screw-in filter size.

I have the slightly older model, also in a Copal 3 shutter. It is a good, sharp lens. Bellows draw is only about 8", so it will work on a field camera.

The 360mm lens, other than coatings and the aforementioned shutter change is the same as it was in 1954 and throughout its manufactured life. It was sharp but lower in contrast than most long focus lenses. On a good solid platform(camera) it could produce excellent images. I did note on 2 different ones that they required a longer development to match contrast on B&W film.

BTW the Nikon 360mm had better contrast, was convertible to 500mm or 720mm, but was a much newer design. It also had superb flare control.
