I have an 8x10 B&W contact print made in the early 2000's which shows a single V notch about 1/2" in from the edge of the negative. There is no other identification that I can find.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Wilhelm

Thanks, Guys. (No wonder I couldn't find it.)
Lots of different films, mainly the ones from the eastern half of Europe, have single V-shaped notch.

Yeah, that single V notch is not to tell you what kind of film but rather to tell you which side of the film is the emulsion on.

The Fortepan 200 (4x5), among others, also had a single "V" notch.

The only other eastern European film that I have used, Efke PL100M, has single semi-circular notch.
Wouldn't surprise me if other films use a single V. How about some specifics from those of you who have used some of the other films with single V notches.
If I remember correctly (by no means a safe bet), weren't Bergger BPF 200 and Forte 200 the same film?

Sheet film cut by aftermarket refinishers may have only a single notch, regardless of the emulsion. That was certainly the case with film I bought from Photo Warehouse, back when they used to cut odd sizes to special order. So I have negatives made with what were most likely FP4 Plus and HP5 Plus, with a single notch.

I'd have to dig up some negatives to be sure, but if I recall correctly it was semicircular, not a V-notch.
What shape of notch?
The OP said it was a V notch.

Sorry for the confusion Leigh. My question was in response to Oren. I responded to the OP earlier.

TMY should look like 2 Vs and a big U.
When Arista LF film was HP5+ back in the early oughts, it was a single half circle notch.

If you read the whole page you will find the disclaimer "Several Eastern European sheet films have a single V-shaped notch, which serves only to indicate which side is coated with emulsion. Therefore, single V-notches cannot be used for film identification."
The Orwo (Wephota) NP15 and NP22 that I have both have a single v-shaped notch, for example.
