After 60 years of shooting 9x12 and 4x5 film, I finally bought a beautiful, near-mint 5x7 Kodak 2D. I think that 5x7 is too small for contact prints and have neither space nor inclination to set up the old Omega E3, (which is stored in my garage). I need to learn about scanning for B&W digital printing. Where do I start? Epson model XXXX? Your advice, please.

I use the Epson 750 for everything up to 8X10.

You can also look into a used Eversmart Pro II or IQsmart scanner.

Someone in one of the forums recently posted that the EpsonStore was offering refurb'd V700 scanners in the low $400 range. With free shipping and a full warranty these are often a good deal. Epson is know for fast exchanges if there is a problem.

Just a thought.

Ken Lee of this forum gets outstanding results with an Epson 4990 and Doug Fisher's Betterscanning mounting station.
