I've never held a pencil in my mouth while shooting. That must be why my images are no good.

So what's better for landscapes Ticonderoga or Staples brand? Would Ansel and Edward have used mechanical pencils? What brand of pencil did they use?

No it's not a pencil, that's the rare 1950s-era Plaubel Siliva-Activated View Camera System.

Works great, just keep a rag handy to wipe the camera off from time to time.

Doesn't matter which brand as long as it has a very sharp point.

There's an iPhone app for that now with the optional bluetooth fake pencil with the built-in mouthpiece.

That and photos of scantily-clad women should cement your success!:)

My Minox kit includes a little stub made for bridge or golf scoring. My 35mm bag holds Ticonderogas (Nos 1,2 or 4 depending on ISO) for B&W and a selection of colored map pencils for shooting chromes.

I use a mechanical pencil when shooting MF, but switch to a 2 mm lead holder for 4x5 and a 0.22 inch lead holder for 8x10.
