Why do you suppose Nikon does not have web based information on their large format Nikkor lenses? Can't find anything.

Nikon stopped making any LF lenses several years ago, so I am sure they see no need for any information on their site. Having said this, they are excellent lenses, I use a couple. I also use one of their enlarging lenses, very nice. They can be found used easily.

I think they are out of the LF lens business, but they made some fine lenses. My favorite for 8x10 is their 120sw. Stock of new lenses are still available and the prices are reasonable to cheap.

This forum is a better source for info on lenses than most manufacturers sites anyway.

You could try the LF Home page, here for new

http://www.largeformatphotography.info/lenses/

I never looked at Nikon lens specs online, but you could look in the wayback machine.

Nikon Europe listed their discontinued lenses. They have their LF lenses there.

I never found anyone in the Nikon USA offices that knew what a LF lens was and that Nikon made them. And that was back before Nikon stopped making them.

Well, I guess that's as good a reason as any for finding no info--I wasn't aware, obviously. Through the advice of some folks I purchased a Nikkor f8 120 SW and was trying to find some info from Nikon. But I have gotten good info elsewhere too.

Nikon Japan still maintains a very useful archive of specifications for the LF lenses, among other discontinued products:

Chuck,

Congratulations. You made a wise choice.

You can find lens comparison info. on the LF home page (click on the blue bar above and scroll down).

A while ago, I downloaded and printed out a detailed catalogue of the complete Nikon/Nikkor lens selection from the internet.

However, I just looked and there is no indication of the website that I downloaded from anywhere in the catalogue.

What do you need to know?

Gem,
I can't say anything in particular right now, but I may have some questions when comes to mounting it when the lens arrives and my lensboard arrives. I'm aware of all the specs----I was just wanting to check out Nikon's page, but there simply isn't one as I've learned.

B&H still has a handful of new ones in stock, including the superb 120 SW F8.

Chuck,

The Nikon/Nikkor catalog I downloaded was located on a personal website.

I cannot remember who that person was. I seem to remember that it was a female.

Perhaps someone will chime in here.

Let me know if you need help mounting your 120SW on a lens board.

Carey Bird used to have a lot of information on Nikkor LF lenses on his website. He is a member of this forum.

Actually, it is still there: http://members.iinet.net.au/~cbird/index.html

... and he's most definitely not a female :D

It was my inability to find any info on the web that prompted me to post this material. Hope you find it useful.

Chuck, the Nikon 120 SW f/8.0 is a wonderful lens. I own one. It's nice to know the specs, but better to get out with it to shoot.

The 120 Nikkor arrived today and what a beauty it is to behold. Special thanks to Gem Singer for guidance in the decision and helping me with mounting it. Turns out it wasn't hard but I had never done it before. Looking forward to my first exposures with it. Wow, such a huge rear element, the same size as the front.

The bellows seem somewhat rigid, but there are 10 mm of front and rear swing and about 8mm of front and rear tilt---plenty.

Glad to be of assistance, Chuck.

BTW, he purchased a brand new 120SW from B&H. The last of a great classic.

Use it in the best of health.
