If you are interested in participating in a 2010/2011 LF Print Exchange, please cast your vote. Prints submitted for this exchange must have been made in 2010-2011 and cannot be duplicates from any other print exchange.

Please read this post before you vote, (replace "2009" with 2010/2011) for more info: http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=57711.

Poll closes on January 16th. If we receive 40 or more participants, I will volunteer to coordinate. If someone else would like to coordinate the exchange, please post in this thread.

Kind regards,
Darr

Darr,

I have sent you a pm, but I'll throw this out here also. Last year I produced some of the Lenswork style folios in both the 8x10 and 11x14 size. I would be willing to donate enough of these so that the exchange prints could be store and displayed in one. It would require deciding on one of the sizes. Each folio can hold 15 pieces so the ideal number would be 45 or 3 groups of 15. A smaller number of prints can be used, it would just require a little thicker backing board. Just thought I would throw this idea out there. Jim Becia

The link doesn't seem to work for me.
I like the idea the Jim has ... ending up with one portfolio of prints matted to the same size, at least that's how I read Jim's comments.

Rob,

They would not be matted, just printed on the same size paper, either all images on 8x10 paper or all on 1114. An 8x10 image looks very nice printed on 11x14 paper. Jim

I like this idea a lot...each image be sized to fit on 11x14 where possible. Those working with contact prints might find it more difficult unless they just happen to own an 11x14 printer, though. I will print my images on 11x14 paper. I already have several extra Lenswork folders that I bought from Jim (beautiful, by the way), and will provide a few extras if needed.

Michael,

Thanks for the offer, but if in fact this happens, I have more that enough folios for the project. There really is no need for anyone to give up their folios. Jim

Everyone,

Jim's offer is very generous and I have requested that he send me a folio so I can size it against our usual shipping materials and weigh it. I need to see if it will bump up the size of the needed shipping materials and shipping costs before I say it is an option. If it does, it may still be an option with the added costs. BUT, we will accept 8x10" through 11x14" prints (no larger than 11x14" paper)--no worry to those that print to 8x10".

I will keep you all updated about this idea!

John,
8x10" is fine; cannot accept 7x17" (too big for mailings).
I look forward to seeing your work again.

I'd like to participate also.

I print traditional so 8x10 or 11x14 doesn't matter to me. Does the paper (RC or fibre) matter?

This is just the impetus I needed to get me out of the chair and shooting and printing again!

Thanks for doing this again Darr ... I'll be sure to include an extra print for your collection and encourage others to as well.

I enjoyed the last one. I'd prefer 8x10 prints personally, but 11x14 possible. I'm mostly thinking about the international postage costs.

Thanks Darr and Jim

Now if there are 40 participants does that mean I have to supply 40 prints? Or is there a specific quantity to supply? Looks like it was 10 previously and there was talk of 15 on one of the posts here? I'd love to participate but don't want to bite off more than i can chew.

Looks like it will still be groups of 10....so nine prints, plus one for the organizer as an option... so basically 10 prints...

Happy New Year to you Barry! I look forward to your work. :)

Welcome back!

I totally understand about the International Shipping Fees and this is why we do not accept mounted prints and/or prints larger than 11x14". Besides the costs of prints, our international participants pay in upwards of $30-$60 shipping each way! (possibly more with exchange rates) I try to be as conservative as possible with shipping materials, but at the same time, I need to use the best support for the shipments. Keeping the shipping packets under 1 pound is the objective from my shipping room!!

I'm in. It was awesome to see the variety of interests that people have and the great prints that they are making.
Welcome Doug!

I would like to participate again. Looking forward to it!

No. As soon as we officially make the thread for the 2010/2011 print exchange, the group listings will be published. A Group will never have more than 10 participants. We are aware of all the costs involved! As an example, if we end up with a total of 49 participants, we would have 7 groups of 7 (7x7=49). We try to even out the groups, and if we can't, I usually fill in as an extra and will ask for volunteers as well.

Welcome on board!

Hey David,
The last Monday in March will be the official "prints-in-the-mail day", which will be the 28th (March 28, 2011).
This will be posted after this poll closes. I like to give some time for those that want to shoot a fresh, 2011 print!

I haven't taken part before either and when I found this site (one year ago today :p) the call for participants was on. At the time I had no dark room or enlarger so I could not participate but this year I am good to go and pretty darned excited about it. :D
In art school I traded art work with many of the students and I consider that to be one of the highlights of the whole art school experience.
