I have a Pentax Spot meter that I used this weekend for at least 16 shots. On my last shot it just di not light up to indicate the metering. Initially, I thought it was just a battery that I replaced almost a year ago. This evening, I replaced it with a new battery, unfortunately, it did not work.

What should I do to make it work? Can you recommend a name that I can send it for check-up and get fixed?

Thanks,

Vaughn

Clean the battery contacts in the meter. Send it to Richard Ritter.

Is this a digital or an analogue Pentax spot meter?

Working fine, then suddenly dying sounds like battery problem. If the meter is analogue, it will require multiple batteries.

Try another battery (batteries), make certain they are the right type, and install them carefully.

It is digital. I replaced the battery and nothing happened. I will check again this evening.

Send it up to Richard Ritter. Does a great job with a decent turn-around time!
He CLA'd my Zone VI meters last year after some 20+ years of great service.
My photos might not be the best, but they are always properly exposed!

I agree with Vaughn - scrape the battery terminals first. I use a screwdriver. Then try it. Last time mine went dead, Richard (with eyes rolling - "doesn't Bruce ever learn?") told me to do the battery terminal scrape. Voila! Fixed!
