Sounds fantastic!

I am not sure how flexible grad school will be this spring, but it sounds like a wonderfull opportunity, and something I could actually drive to.

Super.

Jim,

Good luck with the workshop. Hope you get good turnout.

Let me say that I own one of Jim's prints and I can vouch for the quality of his carbon transfer printing.

Gustavo,

Yes. I'm in the Water Resources program. LF has been my passion, but working with water pays the bills.

Recently I have been attempting Van Dyke Brown prints. I shoot 4x5 so they are tiny, but it is really fun. I have had mixed success, and it has been a lot of trial and error (heavy on the error side  ) but I have begun to love the alt processes. Carbon transfer is probably my next jump as it is close to pt/pd but much more financially (for me) viable, with an eventual move to 8x10.

The big hurdle for me is time. Full time grad school, full time work, and full time family (two girls under 3 and a saint of a wife) hardly leaves me time in my own darkroom.

However, I feel that I am at the stage where I need to learn more from others. I have trial and errored myself to this point (with the treasures of knowledge in this forum!) and feel I need an additional push. I see workshops as that nudge, and hope you guys have success with the carbon transfer workshop, I'd love to be there!

Kind regards,

-J.B.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the nice comments on my work. Sandy has been a big influence on my work and I appreciate his nice words.

Carbon printing is a very special process and I hope those who have interest in this fine process will sign up. We will all have a great time in a wonderful setting. Please join us if you can.

I should have my website up and running soon and it is dedicated to carbon transfer work. You will be able to see additional images on the site. The problem with the web is that images don't show well. There is nothing like seeing a carbon print and holding it in your hands to see the beauty of tone and relief.
Thanks.

Hi Gus, Jim
It's good to see that you and Jim put this workshop together for the most beautiful photographic process in Sante Fe. I have seen Jim work many many times and have owned one of the print on this opening threat in my living room as Hugo's stated. I highly recommended Jim's workshop. A very patience , helpflul mentor , willing to spend more time if you need more help, dedicated and very details in every step of the Carbon transfer process. Again Jim & Gus. Good luck and have a lot of fun .

Due to unforeseen circumstances we will have to cancel this workshop. Anyone and everyone who has sent in deposits will have their refunds promptly. I am sorry for the inconvenience this may cause some of you.

I would hope to schedule a workshop in the South West at some time in the future.

Thank you.

Jim
