I recovered the carriage table yesterday with new wool felt. I thought I had a before pic but apparently not, the only one i could find was this one from when I found it. The table surface was pretty raw, lots of scrapes & gouges because who knows how many decades this went uncovered for.
So close to the leading edge there are 2 holes, i recall that there is a wooden stop there that mine no longer has. I've seen it in pics but I was wondering if anyone has the same carriage (or similar) would you mind telling me the dimensions of that piece and if possible a photo as well. I'd like to get something as similar as possible.
thanks

I think there are several widths - mine is a late one.

Thanks much.
It's a lot thicker then I anticipated so normal molding probably isn't a good fit. I'll figure something out

The exact dimension are 1 1/4" wide and 3/4" deep. Anything smaller would probably put your feet and your camera in great danger.
It is one of the wood sections made from mahogany on my version.
here's some pix from my table that is not yet restored.

Thanks for all the info & pics. I went to home depot & lowes to see if there was any molding that might do the job, there wasn't, but I found something almost as good as the original.
I found this piece of oak rounded on the top & on one end rounded while the other end is squared. It's about 10inches long. I asked what it was and was told it's the side to a stair step. If you had a staircase & one side was exposed to see, without finishing people would just see an ugly squared profile. This piece covers that, is the same thickness as the step & is rounded to match it.
So it was too short and i have no tools to round off the other end,l i bought 2 of them.
Most of the pics displayed show that piece to be about 13 1/2 inches long.
So i measured each to 7 inches & cut them square with a miter saw. Then drilled 2 small holes in the end of one that i glued 2 wooden dowels in. They are drying now and in a bit I'll dry fit & then glue the other half. Some wood putty & sanding and it'll be ready for staining.
I'll post a pic after i glue the other half on

I am sure that the 10" length would have been OK if distance between the screw holes hadn't been 10 1/2"!
