Hello all! Just an introduction. Dave here from Michigan. I hope to spend some time here and learn as much as I can. I am completely new to large format and just aquired a Sinar Norma 4x5 after doing some homework. I am going to point this beauty mostly at people and will be looking for a lens soon. Any lens/fl recommendations would be appreciated as this is all new to me.

Any good book recommendations will help too.

Thanks everyone.

Welcome. What part of Michigan are you from? As for books, there are many. You could start here, sure others will chime in with other recommendations as to their faves.

Hi, Dave...welcome to group therapy! In your quest for a lens, since you intend to do mostly portrature, look for something around 200mm to 250mm...you'll like the modeling of a slightly longer than normal lens for that type of shooting. I picked up an Ilex 215mm f/4.8 convertible lens a while back that would be fine for that use and was very reasonable; the same lens was made under the Caltar name also. Have fun with your new camera!
