Hi,

I store and transport my Sinar 8x10 p2 in the medium size Sinar case (36x46x59 cm or 14.1x18.1x23.2 in). So far I only manage to put the camera, a wide angle bellow and a rail extension into this huge box. I'm interested whether some of you are able to put more Sinar parts (lenses, ...) into that box. A photo of such an open Sinar case where one could see how you fill it up effectively would be nice - and helpful.

Thank you,
Johannes

Johannes,
I have the same case, it's the older Sinar Expert case, I'll fill mine up and take a few pics for you.
I typically can pack the 8x10 P, the 4x5 back and bellows, filter rods, clamp, extension rods and a couple of lenses in it fairly easily.

I will try and remember to get a couple of pictures tonight as well. I have the same case and I carry the 8x10 plus the 4x5 with bellows, filters, light meter, 5 lenses, bag bellows, 2 extension rods, dark cloth, loupe, and a few other items.

Hi guys, also very interested in figuring out a viable method to move an 8x10 Sinar P with associated necessities from here to there without a U-Haul. Any suggestions, pics, etc. much appreciated.
Thanks,
Larry

Astute Sinar spotters will see that I manage to pack the 8x10 P w/metering back, 4x5 back, small bellows, bag bellows, 2 bellows corner holders, a full set of filter rods (including a jointed rod), 6", 12" and 18" extension rails, rail holder, a multipurpose standard, bellows hood mask II, a 300mm Symmar-S MC (on the camera) and a 121mm f8 Fujinon with room to spare.

This is the large case

http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg90/Beecool/27db3fde.jpg

Inside is.....8x10 metering back & standard in the lid plus 2 rail extensions, bottom half contains P2 with 4x5 metering back & standard attached and lens & shutter attached to the front standard, 4 other lenses on boards, 4x5 bellows, filters, loupe, 3 cable releases, lens shade, pentax spot meter, 4x5 bag bellows, dark cloth, and a few other small trinkets.

Bottom half of case with dark cloth and bag bellows removed. The top left corner of the picture is going to be the futuer home of my newly aquired petzval & board.

This is far from the ideal setup for backpacking but everything is there except the tripod and film holders and it is rock solid.

I have always needed 3 cases; one housed my lenses, which I carry on the airplane with me, while the others went into the cargo bay. Case two carried the 8x10 p along with a bunch of accessories, and the third carried my film holders and tote bag, the tote bag had everything I needed to make a photograph, including a few film holders.

I'll place my dark cloth over everything and fill in any gaps. Been doing this for many moons.

Thanks! So you take the standards off the rail?

I am trying to figure out how to fit my X into a Pelican 1610 case, and build a diy trekpak.
