Portrait and still life monthly threads are doing well, and this landscape thread is becominr rather long, so let's try with monthly landscape threads as well....

I'm very pleased, that snow finaly came back to this land. This was taken with Hermagis Eidoscope no.3 soft focus objective just few yards from our house.

Cheers,
Marko

I like that frosty tree! I’ll add some cold, volcanic rocks to the mix.

With a sprinkling of holiday snow, lower left.

In the center, a frigid cascade, splashing into the abyss of the Grinch.

Henderlong Vyd. smudge pot

John, I like both of these. But one question: what's a smudge pot? Is this what we kiwis would call a frost pot (i.e. a device that burns fuel to change the micro-climate and keep frost at bay)?

Cheers

Hello Carey. A smudge pots are used to prevent freezing. They set them all over the vineyard and burn some kind of smokey fuel in there. We've had a cold winter so far. Usually these are used in the spring to protect the young sprouts. Glad you like the photos

Very nice Marko.

I live in Colorado at 7000ft. above sea level. We've seen a dusting of snow this fall/winter at the very end of November. It was a record for the latest first recorded snow in our town. We usually get measurable snow by mid October and sometimes in September here. Its awfully dry, drab brown and gray right now.

Come on... SNOW!

We are having a very cold spell here in Scotland at present. Unfortunately as we have had a reasonable amount of snow, followed by a snap freeze my car is stuck in the car park, meaning I can't get out into the wider landscape....bugger. So here are a few from last year, pretty much identical conditions at this time.
First one is from the hill overlooking Inveraray, where I am staying over the winter, digi snap from last night. You can almost see the car stuck in the snow!
Second one is Glen Nevis, the river was completely frozen over. There is a small waterfall just below where this was taken, all day long climbers were ice climbing it before heading up to Steall falls, about a mile upriver, about 150ft ice fall.

Very beautiful image, Marko.

Yikes...so we'll now be required to keep up with our film development? :D I'm still backed up into October, but I did happen to process this negative the other night because I was curious how it turned out. The image probably needs a bit more fine tuning, but here's the general result/direction (Tachihara 4x5, Fujinon 135mm, Yellow 12 + 2 stop hard edge GND, Tmax 100 in Xtol 1:1):

Not really :D. My backlog is enormous, but since I was curious what will come out of this as well, I push this image a few months forward regarding development .

A couple more. First one is a small Lochan just north of Oban, as the water level was dropping there were several cracks, as the ice level dropped, almost like gunfire.
Second is of Sron na Creise, which sits opposite Buachaille Etive Mhor, at the head of Glen Etive. This was taken early one morning on a workshop in Glencoe last winter.

Joel: Nicely done!

No, when you look at the trees in that back, the vines look like they are a meter [~yard] tall.

Frank, I like this image! It's such a simple and efficient photo. Your comment of fighting makes it something different, but I'm not quite certain in what way.
