I will be giving a week-end carbon printing workshop at PhotoCentral in Hayward, CA on January 15th and 16th, 2011. You will have the opportunity to carry out all steps of the carbon printing process, with enough time to make several prints. My goal is to give you enough knowledge and hands-on experience to take this beautiful process home and start making the process your own.

PhotoCentral has an incredible darkroom facility that we will take full advantage of. The workshop is limited to 12 people, and there is enough space to comfortable have everyone working.

The cost is $175 for Hayward residents/$185 for non-residents. There is also a $20 material fee.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the workshop. Registration is done through Hayward Area Recreation District/PhotoCentral, and registration information is best got from them.

I highly recommend this workshop. The one that I took two years ago gave me all of the information to take carbon printing. Vaughn is a great teacher, my mentor and the facilities are really nice. Don't miss out on this as you will come away with some beautiful prints.

I attended this workshop in September. Vaughn gave me all of the tools I needed to produce beautiful carbon prints. I am perfecting these skills in my lab now. One thing to remember is that each print takes time. More so than silver gelatin. Each process has it's own rewards. Thanks Vaughn

Thank you, Jim and Robert! Robert -- good to hear that you are still working on the process!

I have an idea or two I would like to play with -- nothing too fancy but involving photogram techniques and 7x17 negatives. Something fun to do along with my other printing.

Thinking seriously about signing up. I've wanted to try Carbon Printing ever since seeing Sandy King's prints at the 1st Street Gallery in Boca Raton back in 2004.

Let me know if I can be of any help, Karl!

There is still room in this workshop! Right now I have 5 people signed up (enough to run the workshop), and there is room for more without crowding. The facilities are large and excellent!

I spent the day making carbon prints using the method I learned from Vaughn at his workshop in Hayward last September. This workshop is easily worth twice the fee charged. He has put a lot of time and effort into the methods he teaches, and is happy to share. This has allowed me to begin my production of carbon tissue, and print making at an advanced rate. Thanks again Vaughn
