I am shooting 4x5 kodak E100g daylight slide film this weekend indoors using a number of fresnel film lights, two 750w and a 250w i believe. Obviously the use of an 80A is needed. I have been told before to filter light by taping gels over the glass element that is inside the camera body facing the ground glass, but the apex of the back element seems almost flush with the metal enclosure, which leads me to believe the gel could touch the glass which i wouldnt want. I wanted to purchase a Hoya multi coated glass filter to screw on the front of the lens but its not carried anywhere that I am able to just walk in and buy in New York. I purchased a cheaper non coated filter since it was the only one they carried in my filter size. will i have any issues with this cheaper non coated lens?

As optics go, front mounting is best , plus, that way you can remove it to focus & compose...
80A filters are rather dense.
A lens shade will help compensate for the lack of MC on the filter.
What type of subject will you be shooting?

I forgot to mention, to prevent a blue cast, make sure to eliminate any window light.

thanks DS. after 3 days of searching all four of the largest photo stores in new york none of them are carrying a multicoated 80A filter. I happened to find one that wasnt coated so Ill have to make due with that and hope theres no repercussions as far as ghosting.
