Some time ago, a guy interviewed Richard Ritter and me in Harmony Parking Lot in Brattleboro, VT on the Sunday morning of a Fine Focus Workshop. He was from Vermont Public Radio, and had a pretty nifty little digital recorder, even if he did have to go find batteries.
Well, post production took longer than anyone expected. Nevertheless, "Vermont Edition" on VPR will have a short piece on “Old Style Large Format Cameras” tomorrow sometime between noon and 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Don’t fret. If you miss it, it will be available as an MP3 download at www.vpr.net.
It’s a contribution towards Richard’s and my 15 minutes of fame.

Thanks, David. See you Thursday for you to play with a BIG old-fashioned large format camera!
Hi Bruce,
Have you and Richard ever considered taking your workshops on a tour ? Like maybe across the border :)
cheers,

Yes we have. Way too must work and hassle.
Better to come to a work shop where we know all the really good spots to photograph at. Makes life and the workshop experience better for everyone involved.

I echo Richard. We know the local area, and I like to cook, so the food's pretty good these days, and the photographing is reliable. It's also comfy at my house on Fridays (and for 8x10, Saturday, too). Lots of space, all my stuff for improvised lectures when called for, and a good coffeemaker.
To go on tour would require a week's worth of scouting, dealing with accommodations, etc. A recipe for losing money, and probably our minds, too. It was bad enough when we did the Fall Foliage workshops in Pittsburgh, NH. Our stint in Kentucky was OK, because the logistics of meals were all handled by somebody else. We made our class work out because we could do exercises at the arboretum where we were housed.
But neither was as nice as home-sweet-home. Come visit. We'd love to show off Vermont and New Hampshire.
thought it was worth asking ;) will keep an eye out for next year's sked and hope the loonie stays close to par !
cheers,
Fred

Also, there are a few tees to cross and eyes to dot when going to Canada to make an income.
A friend of mine spent quite a few hours in a Canadian Customs room when he mentioned he was going to Toronto to be an instructor in a workshop. And then he was sent home!

Very cool! Just listened. Nice job Bruce and Richard!
I'm excited about this weekend! I'd be happy with or without the snow, though!

Bruce,
I just picked up a copy of "Finely Focused" and I have to say I'm enjoying it very much. I still have my original "Zone VI Newsletters" from the first ten years or so. Also I am pleased to hear that you are a fan of the Sinar Norma. I've been collecting Norma stuff for thirty years +. Hope to meet some day.

Is the segment buried in with the whole episode for Nov 9, or can you listen to it separately? I found the VPR page describing the interview but the only podcast I can find has a title about campaign finance and is about 47 mins long.
Thanks

The Fine Focus stuff starts at 43:43
And you can move the slider/scrubber along with your cursor to skip thru the "other stuff".
