This lens has been popping up on eBay for the last few months with an asking price in the US$12 000 - US$15 000 range.

The latest auction has ended but can be found by typing 200517910072 into the eBay search field.

I realize that this is a nice lens and that good specimens of this size probably do not come up often, but are these prices realistic ?

It seems like a very high price to pay.

Any comments.

Well I don't know if it's worth it. If the right buyer appears & really wants a 24" Eidoscope it may be the only game in town.

It has been listed at least a couple dozen times at this asking price or higher.

Peace
Louis

I am not sure it is the same lens, but it has popped up on ebay 191522956096, asking merely US$32,500.

Maybe, you should also offer to purchase (from the Same Seller):
*Just joking of course...

... the "UBER RARE 'Red Dot' Prototype DAGOR 8 1/4" Mint in Box (Gold Dot) Goerz Lens"...

(For a 'Mere' additional Asking Price: US $33,000.00) ???

Shoot, I've got a Hermagis twice as long (47") that I'd sell for half that!

But asking prices are not selling prices. If you want to see what real rare lenses sometimes go for, check out 151602161415. Hint, it's not Large Format or brass, and it's currently being bid to $39,000.....

They're not really that rare, they're cult lenses. The equivalent lens from Kinoptic is rare. Equivalent lenses from TTH are much more common and that bubble has slightly burst. All cult lenses.

Small format cult lens HQ seems to be the Hong Kong Old Lens Club.

I'll just keep my 19" and be okay with that.

Nope, Kinoptik, a French lens manufacturer. I spelled the name wrong (ends in 'k', not in 'c'), sorry.
