I want to add a macro lens for small product/still life work to my Arca M-Monolith configured for 6x9. I came from the dslr/hassy world and used the Nikkor 200mm f4 most, along with an 85mm pc, and some stuff from zoerk (90mm enlarger lens mostly), and a 120 macro on the hassy.

I have read many of the posts on this forum regarding macro lenses and am leaning toward a Schnieder 180mm macro lens. But I don't see many comments regarding the phase one backs and these macro lenses.

Thankful for any comments.

That's because over here we're all old fogies working with wooden cameras and 19th century lenses :) For discussions on Leaf/Phase One/Hasselblad all of us go to http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/ So see you there.

That said, I've used a Rodenstock Macro Sironar 180mm with a Betterlight scan back and an Imacon 132C back, and it is an extremely sharp lens.

Cheers,
Kumar

A 180 would require a fair amount of extension. Make sure you have enough room on the rail and bellows. The 6x9 version with the pleated leather bellows is somewhat limited as I recall.

Another option that is probably the most affordable option is the 120mm Macro Nikkor-ED. The perspective should be similar to your previous 120 mm lens and it is perhaps ore manageable on your camera. It can be very expensive to add rails and long bellows in the Arca system.

I use the Rodenstock 120 Macro (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/131990-USA/Rodenstock_160425_120mm_f_5_6_Apo_Macro_Sironar_Lens.html) on my M Line-Two and used it prior with the AS 6x9 FC.

Thanks for the input. I do have 50cm bellows as well as the wide angle and the normal bellows. I also have the standard rail for the M-Monolith. I'll take a look at the 120mm. Generally I try to have a little distance if I can for the purpose of getting light where I want it, which is why I was heading toward the 180. Additional compression of the foreground and background suits too.

I'll take a look at the links and come back with any questions. Thanks again.

darr,

You have a lot of nice work on your site. Thanks for the comments here and on my other thread about my tripod problems and the M-Line Two.

Hi postman

How about the Nikkor AM-ED 210 f5.6. That might do it.

Peace
Louis

Another vote for the 120 mm Rodenstock Apo Macro Sironar which I'm using with pleasure on my 6x8 A/S F-line, but on film only.
