I'd not encountered the work of this British photographer until I read his obituary recently (he died in September) but I've been astounded by his images taken in British industrial locations during the 1950s and '60s. The pictures are carefully set up and posed but his use of lighting is stunning - some of the shots remind me of the work of O. Winston Link. Here's a link to Broomfield's website and I recommend the 'slideshow of industry' http://mauricebroomfield.com/
I've been searching the net to find out what equipment, lighting and film stock he was using but with little success so far. He would almost certainly have used a large format technical camera of some kind and I would guess that at that time the lighting would've been tungsten. I just wondered if anyone else here knows more about his work and techniques.
