I would like to find a soft sided case for a 8x10 kodak 2D that I can put down on the ground and work out of. If possible I woudl like to keep the price under $150 or so. It woud be great if I could use a shoulder strap or even cary it like a backpack. Am I dreaming?

Would a Tamrac 750 or 752 backpack fit your need?

My 2D goes out in an older LoewPro Super Trekker back pack. I use it with the shoulder harnes stowed and tote it short distances with a single snap on shoulser strap. It holds the camera with lens, two film holders dark cloth, meter, loup etc.

In use; the bag goes on the ground and the front opens up W-I-D-E. There is a built-in rain cover/sunshield.

Edward Weston is supposed to have said, "Anything more than 100 yards from the car just isn/t that interesting."

That's it. Can you point me to a source for that, please?

I've used one of these (http://cgi.ebay.com/390227546129) for a couple of years. Unc. Sam took the initial hit. I've seen them as low as $6 each at surplus stores. The 2D fits in perfect and is well protected.

I've got one of the insulated water can bags, clean and unused, available for half what the Ebay one there was listed at. PM if you're interested.

The insulated water can bag is also available here (http://store.colemans.com/cart/us-gi-portable-insulated-container-p-2279.html) for $14.95 (in Tan or Olive) and here (http://www.armysurpluswarehouse.com/department/outdoorcamp-gear-10004.cfm?killnav=1) (in Tan only) for $19.95. Lists dimensions as 19" tall x 16" wide x 9 1/2" deep.

The site attributes it to Ed Weston, and I've seen another source saying that Brett said it.
