Dismantling and cleaning Feisol twist locks??? [Archive]

Hi there

Thoughtful me took my LF gear up across Eyafjellajökull on Iceland this summer. For those of you not familiar with the name, it is the funny volcano that paralyzed all european air traffic this spring.

Well, long story short, my Feisol CT-3371 is full of the finest of ashes that can break a turbojet engine :)

Have any of you succesfully dismantled your feisol and cleaned the twist locks? I tried yesterday, but are having troubles putting it back together...

please help!

Probably the quickest answer to your problem would be had by emailing Orion <feisol@feisol.com> and asking for help with it.

I've done it many times. Check out the ReallyBigCameras site for (I think) detailed photos of the leg assembly. The washers/spacers need to be assembled in the right order.

Just looked at reallybigcameras, but couldn't find any drawing or specification... but good to know, that it can be done easily. I was worried for at bit, that I had ruined the tripod completely.
