How to make the gears of a 410 head smooth???

Hi

I've read quite a few places in here, that the gears on a manfrotto/bogen 410 head usually get stiff at some point... well, my head has reached that point - and I just got it back from repair, sigh.

Does any of you have suggestions as to how I lubricate or dismantle and lubricate the gears?

Grease? Graphite? Penetrating oil? What are the gears made out of? What does Manfrotto suggest? What does Frodo suggest?;)

There is an earlier thread about how to expose the gears to lube them or tighten the "slop".
