I am brand new to large format photography. I recently bought a Tachihara 4 x 5 field camera to begin my journey into 4 x 5 photography. When I bought the camera, I also bought a Polaroid 550 film holder because I was told it would be compatible with Fuji's 4 x 5 instant film.
The problem is... I can't find this film anywhere and I don't think they are making instant film for 4 x 5 anymore. I see it available in 3.25 x 4.25.
Did I get ripped off? Have they completely stopped production on 4 x 5 instant film?
Is it possible to use 3.25 x 4.25 with this polaroid back I just bought?

It exists and it is still made. It's called FP-100C45. I have 2 boxes in my refrigerator right now.

1 week ago I saw it on the fujifilm website. Now it isn't there. I am afraid it has fizzled out of existence.

I was just in Adorama today in New York buying some film, and I saw a pile of it on their film shelves.

Freestyle has both FP100C45 and FP100B45. I'm pretty sure the B&W 4x5 is discontinued now. I've been thinking of stocking up; is it ok to freeze this kind of instant film?

It's all on the Fuji website, kind of hidden, in their instant film section.

Kind of idiotically placed with their junky instant cameras, but seemingly still made. I've heard Fuji has bizarre marketing, so maybe this is not a surprise. Since people seem to be pretty happy to pay pretty big bucks for converted (and original) pack film cameras, I kind of assume this stuff will be around for a while. But who knows?

Badger Graphic Sales also sells the Fuji in 4x5.

I would not freeze this stuff--I don't think it would be good for the chemicals in the packets. Use it or lose it.

So far it has proven better than the old Polaroid crap. It's just kind of boring... wish they made it in ISO 400.

The price difference between the 4x5 and the smaller stuff seems crazy out of proportion.
