Hi,
I have Tachihara 8x10 and looking for back reduction 8x10 >>4x5. Do you know what other system will fit to Tachi? Sinar reduction?
Thanks in advance...

As far as I know, Tachihara doesn't make one, and it's unlikely that reducing backs for other cameras would fit. Since I also use a Toyo 8x10 monorail, I made my own adapter to utilize the Toyo reducing back. The only issues in construction were to get the stepped light trap to fit well and to use corner joinery that reduced the potential for leaks.

The Wista 8x10 seems very similar to the Tachihara. It might be worth checking whether the Wista 8x10 -> 4x5 reducing back will fit.

When I owned a Tachihara 8X10 (double extension) a few years ago, it had a genuine Tachihara 4X5 reducing back that I used frequently.

Contact: jim@mpex.com

Jim, at Midwest Photo Exchange, is a Tachihara dealer.

If he doesn't have a 4X5 reducing back for the 8X10 in stock, he can order it for you.

Here's Tachihara's price list - they do list one, on the bottom of the second page:

hi - I can add the following but it's for a 5x7 reducing back

I've found that my Kodak 2D 10x8 to 5x7 reducing back fits easily onto the back of the Tachihara - you just need to hold it firm with a couple of strong elastic bands and you're ready to go

Yes, Jim Andracki at midwest is very much the man to contact - ten years or so ago, I'm pretty sure that Jim was able to offer 5x7 reduction backs

one more possible option: I bought a Wista 8x10 from Keith F. through this forum; it's virtually identical to a Tachi double extension. It has a 5x7 back adapted from a Burke & James, work done by Richard Ritter. Imagine a 4x5 version could happen as well. (?)
