I happened to stumble upon a Paul Caponigro exhibition in Santa Monica yesterday at Peter Fetterman. An amazing collection of prints, with amazing prices, but all your favorites are here, every one of them.

If you live in the area you must go down and visit...and hurry. The show was scheduled to end in June, but seems to be held over for a while.

Also, in the gallery...George Tice gelatin silver prints...also all the good ones you love.

And one other thing worth mentioning (although not LF to the best of my humbled knowledge), a Salgado gelatin silver print of a bedouin in the desert...50x68 inches. Breathtaking...

I was the only person in the room...just like a private showing.

Have fun!

Phil,

Thanks. My wife and I will have to make a run down there. Have not been down there since we saw Ray McSavaney's work at QT's old place.

I was fortunate to see Caponigro's work exhibited at the Open Shutter in Durango back in 2008. They were all of his older, darkroom prints ... and superbly printed they were!

The tonality of his print work is outstanding, as were the quality of his photographs.

David, if you visit the Bergamot Station, I'll be curious to see if our former space has found a new tenant. Judging from the price of collectible photography books, often down 50% or more from before the recession, apparently the art market hasn't recovered yet.

We have not yet had a chance to get down there. I will let you know if we do.

That was a great exhibition that we saw in your very nice space. Seems as if the timing could not have been worse - unless you opened in 1929. I cannot imagine things having recovered as of yet.

It was still great to meet you and your family, and Ray too.

I also saw the Michael Kenna Italian portfolio at Craig Krull, although I think that was over the next day.

Worth checking out at the Rose Gallery is Graciela Iturbide's work.

There is a lot of photography happening at Bergamot Station...
